Answering the question above is not easy for me, but I will try to give you every possible answer. To my Parents, I’m William Batista. To my Friends, I’m Billy. To my Brothers I’m Bill. However to the largest group of people that know me, it’s Bbatts (Bee* Bats*). This is my Super Smash Bros tag, the name I use when I compete in tournaments and hopefully place well in them. It’s the name that I use on twitter publicly for my small audience and on most accounts I use in my private life such as Steam or Discord. So when you ask who I am, it really is up to you. Overall the two main answers I have to say are William Batista, and Bbatts, so let’s learn about both of these people.

William Batista (Pictured above being scared of a Dolphin) is a Rutgers Political Science major set to graduate in 2024. He is planning on attending Law School! With 2 older brothers who have already graduated from Seton Hall Law, and two parents who themselves are attorneys, he will be lawyer #5 out of the family. He plans on working in the justice system, and hopefully in the future in politics. Being from a Latino family, Puerto-Rican on his dad’s side and Cuban on his Mom’s side, as well as being openly gay, it has always been a goal to represent those from his background. He is passionate on legislative change on a local, state, and national level. Born and raised in New Jersey, and constantly traveling across the East Coast in his Red Toyota Rav 4, he also loves a nice adventure, and is always down to drive on a road trip. Overall even with all the serious topics and life plan ahead, William is a goofy guy who loves his family and isn’t afraid to laugh during hardships. The serious side and goofy side balance each-other out well to create a person that his mom would describe as “loud”

Bbatts (Pictured above masquerading as a straight man) is a Esports competitor in the game Super Smash Brothers Melee, being ranked #43 in the world (and soon to be even higher by the end of the year) in a video game with thousands of competitors is not easy. It has required thousands of hours of practice and a mental fortitude to never give up and always try his hardest. This is made worth it, whether it be from those who support and cheer for him in the crowd, the beautiful sights traveling through places like Toronto, Paris, and Sandusky, Ohio, or just the gratification of achieving goals set by the kid he used to be many years prior. The price of improvement is high, but the reward has always demonstrated itself and this has allowed for him not to just get experience competing, but many unique opportunities which have expanded his repertoire. Whether it be casting in a professional atmosphere at multiple Major events, being involved in content creation for larger multi-person organizations, and being able to be a mouthpiece for important issues relating to Queer people in his community. The opportunities have been increasing, however with the improvement in the game came the ability to run with even the slightest opportunity handed, and taking this from the game to real life has allowed him to become one of the most notable players outside of the current top 10.

Both of these people are unique and face their own issues, and day to day I have to be addressed by both of these names, and live both of these lives. I am incredibly grateful for having experiences most will never get to have, and even with the added hardship of competing and living as a college student, I can not wait to see what comes next for both of these versions of me.
